The Posture and Bicycling Connection
Many of you know I am an avid bike rider. My bicycling interest started as a teenager, as a way for me to get places and meet interesting people. Over the years my life has been enriched tremendously through bicycling – whether riding with friends around Seattle or racing at the velodrome.
Recently I noticed that several friends stopped bike riding. It wasn’t because they lost interest. They were putting away their bicycles because riding had become too uncomfortable. My fellow riders were complaining of neck and back pain, along with occasional arm tingling. They assumed discomfort came with getting older. Thankfully, my knowledge as a chiropractor helped them understand differently.
The month of May brings together National Correct Posture Month and American Bicycle Month – two topics I’m passionate about. I’m combing both topics in a workshop on Tuesday, May 21st at 7:00pm at Align Wellness. In the workshop I will talk about:
- the importance of good posture on and off your bike
- how you can correct your posture to thrive in your bicycling pursuits
Give a call to Align Wellness at 206-548-9450 to reserve seat. The workshop is free but space is limited.
I hope you can join me at the workshop and for a ride!
